freediving Frequently Asked Questions

There have been so many questions regarding freediving, I thought I would answer a few here.

Static is holding your breath for as long as possible, lying on the surface of the water completely still.  Dynamic means you are actively swimming.


I am currently at 150 feet. It takes around 2 minutes.


Yes. It is call the Mammalian Dive Reflex. It is an autonomic response brought on by immersion in water (particularly the face) and holding your breath.


You have to equalize your ears so as not to damage them.


To "breathe up" at the start of the dive. - More  info to come on TikTok.
